Main Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced potatoes
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Season with salt and pepper.
Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, sauce, and cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.
