Ingredients 

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ cup cold butter cubed
  • ½ cup cold water

Filling

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon thyme dried
  • 1 teaspoon allspice ground
  • 1 teaspoon scotch bonnet pepper minced
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash

Instructions 

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and turmeric. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually add cold water and mix until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. 3. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook until soft. Add ground beef, thyme, allspice, and scotch bonnet pepper. Cook until beef is browned. Add beef broth, salt, and black pepper. Simmer until liquid is reduced. Cool filling.
  4. 4. Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut into circles. Place filling in the center of each circle. Fold over and seal edges with a fork. Brush with egg wash.
  5. 5. Place patties on a baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
