Ingredients 

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. 2. Add sugar, melted butter, and beaten eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. 3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. 6. Roll out the dough to about ½ inch thickness. Cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter.
  7. 7. Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry doughnuts until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
  8. 8. Let cool slightly before glazing or dusting with sugar.
