Ingredients 

Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter cubed
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Frosting

  • ½ cup butter cubed
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 4 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 15x10x1-inch baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil. Add to flour mixture and mix well.
  4. Stir in sour cream, eggs, and almond extract until smooth. Pour into prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  6. For frosting, in a small saucepan, bring butter and milk to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar and almond extract until smooth. Spread over warm cake. Sprinkle with walnuts.
