Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make three wells in the dry ingredients. Pour vinegar in one well, vanilla in the second, and the vegetable oil in the third.
  4. Pour water over all and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into an ungreased 8x8 inch baking pan.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan and then serve.
