  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups pitted cherries

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Fold in the cherries.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
