Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions 

  1. In a saucepan, combine strawberries and sugar. Cook over medium heat until strawberries release their juices, about 5 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Add to the strawberry mixture.
  3. Cook and stir until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
  4. Let the filling cool completely before using it in your cake.
