Ingredients 

Cake Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup milk

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream whipped
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup strawberries sliced

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally, stir in the milk until the batter is smooth. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
  5. While the cake is baking, whip the heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of sugar until stiff peaks form.
  6. Once the cake has cooled, spread the whipped cream over the top and arrange the sliced strawberries on top of the cream.
