  • 1 lb Dried brown beans rinsed and sorted
  • 1 lb Ham hock
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper to taste
  • 6 cups Water

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, combine the beans, ham hock, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and water.
  2. 2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, or until beans are tender.
  3. 3. Remove the ham hock, shred the meat, and return it to the pot. Discard the bone.
  4. 4. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
