Shoo Fly Pie Recipe
A classic Pennsylvania Dutch dessert with a rich molasses flavor.

Filling
- 1 cup Molasses
- 1 cup Hot water
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 Egg beaten
Crumb Topping
- 1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
- ½ cup Brown sugar packed
- ¼ cup Butter cold, cut into pieces
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine molasses, hot water, and baking soda. Let cool slightly, then whisk in the beaten egg.
Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
In another bowl, combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over the molasses mixture.
Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the topping is golden brown.
Let the pie cool completely before serving.
