Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugars until creamy. Add egg, vanilla, and food coloring; mix well.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients; mix until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set.
  6. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
