Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 package phyllo dough thawed
  • 4 units eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 units oranges zest and juice

Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 unit orange juice and zest

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Shred the phyllo dough into small pieces and spread it out on a baking sheet to dry out.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
  4. Add the Greek yogurt, vegetable oil, baking powder, vanilla extract, orange zest, and juice. Mix well.
  5. Fold in the dried phyllo dough pieces until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, and orange juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and pour the hot syrup over it. Let it soak in and cool before serving.
