Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter softened
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 cup Chopped Dates
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts
  • 1 cup Orange Slices chopped

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Sift flour and baking soda together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  5. Stir in dates, nuts, and orange slices.
  6. Pour batter into a greased and floured baking pan.
  7. Bake for 1.5 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
