Ingredients

  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 cup grated cheese Gruyère or similar
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • to taste fresh thyme for garnish

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 20 minutes.
  3. Roll out puff pastry on a baking sheet. Spread caramelized onions over the pastry.
  4. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden and crispy.
  6. Garnish with fresh thyme before serving.
