Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 3 Egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 Pre-baked pie crust

Instructions 

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
  2. Stir a small amount of hot mixture into egg yolks, then return to hot mixture. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
  3. Pour filling into pre-baked pie crust. Chill for several hours before serving.
