- 1 cup Sugar
- ½ cup All-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- 3 cups Milk
- 3 Egg yolks, beaten
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 Pre-baked pie crust
In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
Stir a small amount of hot mixture into egg yolks, then return to hot mixture. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
Pour filling into pre-baked pie crust. Chill for several hours before serving.
