Base and Topping
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1.5 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, melted
Filling
- 1 jar caramel ice cream topping (12.25 oz)
- 3 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 0.5 cup chopped nuts optional
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in melted butter until well blended. Press half of the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
In a small bowl, mix caramel topping with 3 tablespoons of flour. Spread the caramel mixture over the baked crust. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts.
Top with the remaining oat mixture. Bake for an additional 18-22 minutes, until the top is lightly browned. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
