Ingredients 

Molasses Cake

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup whipped cream

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine molasses, flour, sugar, baking soda, and ground ginger.
  3. Add boiling water and mix until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cake cool completely, then cut into cubes.
  6. In a trifle dish, layer the cake cubes and whipped cream.
  7. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used up. Chill before serving.
