Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 400 g canned tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large pot, brown the minced beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the pot. Cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add the canned tomatoes and beef stock. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
  6. Layer the sliced potatoes on top of the mince mixture.
  7. Cover the pot and transfer to the preheated oven. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
