Ingredients 

Sopes

  • 2 cups masa harina Maseca brand recommended
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Toppings

  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup crumbled queso fresco
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup salsa

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine masa harina, warm water, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into 8 equal balls. Flatten each ball into a thick disk.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook each sope for about 2-3 minutes on each side until slightly golden.
  4. Remove from skillet and pinch the edges to form a border. Fry again for 1-2 minutes per side.
  5. Top each sope with refried beans, queso fresco, lettuce, and salsa. Serve warm.
