Ingredients

  • 4 large Egg whites at room temperature
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon Cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on medium speed until foamy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the sugar, a tablespoon at a time, beating on high until stiff, glossy peaks form. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  5. Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe small mounds onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 1.5 hours, then turn off the oven and let the meringues cool in the oven with the door closed for at least 1 hour.
