Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast about 2 ¼ teaspoons
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F (45°C)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup honey for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for sprinkling
  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a smooth batter forms. Cover the bowl with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Using a spoon, drop small amounts of the batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. Drizzle the warm loukoumades with honey and sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Serve immediately.
