Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and brown sugar.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly.
Shape into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet.
Cut a deep cross on top of the loaf.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
