Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup warm water

Instructions

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. 2. Add the yogurt and oil, then gradually add the warm water while mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  6. 6. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into an oval shape about ¼ inch thick.
  7. 7. Heat a skillet or tawa over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on each side until puffy and golden brown spots appear.
  8. 8. Serve warm with your favorite curry or dip.
