Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • ½ cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Onion finely chopped
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. 2. Stir in the beaten egg, milk, and finely chopped onion until well mixed.
  3. 3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. 4. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. 5. Remove hush puppies with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
