Main Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar packed
- ¾ cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 large egg
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
In another bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and molasses, and mix well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined. Divide the dough in half, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to ¼-inch thickness. Cut into gingerbread men shapes using cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are firm. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
