Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • to taste Maple Syrup or Honey Optional, for serving

Instructions 

  1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Add salt.
  2. Slowly whisk in the cornmeal, reducing heat to low. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Pour the mixture into a loaf pan and let it cool until firm, about 1 hour.
  4. Once firm, cut the mush into slices.
  5. Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the slices until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Serve hot with maple syrup or honey, if desired.
