  • 4 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries and ½ cup of the sugar. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until just combined.
  4. Pour the melted butter into a baking dish. Pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.
  5. Spoon the cherry mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
