Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries and ½ cup of the sugar. Set aside.
In another bowl, mix the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until just combined.
Pour the melted butter into a baking dish. Pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.
Spoon the cherry mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
