French Onion Soup
A classic French Onion Soup with caramelized onions, beef broth, and melted cheese on top.

Main Ingredients
- 4 large onions thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 4 slices French bread toasted
Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 25 minutes.
Add sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to broil. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls, top with toasted bread slices and grated Gruyère cheese.
Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes. Serve hot.
