Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup butter, melted

Instructions 

  1. 1. Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C).
  2. 2. Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk.
  3. 3. Add sugar, salt, cardamom, and about half of the flour. Mix well.
  4. 4. Add the egg and melted butter. Mix well.
  5. 5. Gradually add the remaining flour, kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  6. 6. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  7. 7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. 8. Shape the dough into a braid or loaf and place on a baking sheet.
  9. 9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
