English Trifle Recipe

Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound sponge cake cut into cubes
  • 2 cups custard
  • 2 cups mixed berries fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • ¼ cup sherry optional

Instructions 

  1. 1. Layer half of the sponge cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle dish.
  2. 2. Drizzle with half of the sherry, if using.
  3. 3. Spread half of the custard over the cake.
  4. 4. Add a layer of mixed berries.
  5. 5. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, sherry, custard, and berries.
  6. 6. Top with whipped cream.
  7. 7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
