Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups Warm milk
  • 2 tablespoon Butter melted
  • 1 cup Cornmeal for dusting

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Gradually add warm milk and melted butter. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.
  6. Dust each round with cornmeal and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat a griddle over medium heat. Cook muffins for about 7 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
