Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cold butter
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup fruit preserves optional

Instructions 

  1. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Warm milk and dissolve yeast in it.
  4. Add milk mixture, egg, and vanilla to the flour mixture.
  5. Knead dough until smooth, then let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out dough and cut into desired shapes.
  7. Place a spoonful of fruit preserves in the center of each piece.
  8. Fold and seal edges, then let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
