Chinese Steamed Buns Recipe

Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- ½ cup warm water
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and instant yeast.
Add warm water, milk, and vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
After rising, punch down the dough and knead in baking powder and salt.
Divide the dough into equal portions and shape into buns.
Place buns in a steamer lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for another 15 minutes.
Steam the buns over medium-high heat for 15-20 minutes.
Remove from steamer and serve warm.
