Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cornmeal
  • 1.25 cups warm water
  • 2.25 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. 2. Add the flour, cornmeal, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until the dough starts to come together.
  3. 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. 5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the dough and press it into a greased deep dish pizza pan, making sure to push it up the sides.
  6. 6. Add your desired toppings and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
