Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Steak (ribeye or strip)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 cloves Garlic (smashed)
  • 2 sprigs Fresh thyme or rosemary

Instructions 

  1. 1. Preheat your cast iron skillet over high heat for about 5 minutes.
  2. 2. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. 3. Add olive oil to the hot skillet and swirl to coat.
  4. 4. Place the steaks in the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, until a crust forms.
  5. 5. Add garlic and herbs to the skillet and continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, basting the steaks with the pan juices.
  6. 6. Use a meat thermometer to check for desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).
  7. 7. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
