Tart Crust
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 2-3 tablespoon cold water
Filling
- 4 apples peeled, cored, and sliced
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the egg yolk and cold water, mix until the dough comes together. Press into a tart pan.
Bake the crust for 15 minutes. Let it cool.
In a saucepan, melt butter and sugar over medium heat. Add cream and vanilla, stir until smooth.
Arrange apple slices in the tart crust. Pour caramel sauce over the apples.
Bake for another 25 minutes until apples are tender. Let it cool before serving.
