- 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
In a large pot, combine sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Cook over medium heat until thickened.
Add lemon juice and sliced apples to the pot. Stir to coat the apples.
Simmer for 10 minutes, until apples are tender.
Spoon the hot apple mixture into sterilized canning jars, leaving ½ inch headspace. Seal jars with lids.
Process jars in a boiling water bath for 20 minutes. Remove and let cool.
