British Date and Walnut Loaf Cake

Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 225 g self-raising flour
  • 175 g pitted dates, chopped
  • 100 g walnuts, chopped
  • 100 g butter, softened
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 150 ml milk

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Grease and line a loaf tin.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the beaten eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Fold in the flour, dates, and walnuts.
  6. Stir in the milk to create a soft batter.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
