- 4 slices bread white or wholemeal
- 50 g butter softened
- 2 eggs
- 300 ml milk
- 50 g sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- raisins optional
- nutmeg optional, for sprinkling
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Butter the bread slices and cut them into triangles.
Arrange the bread in a baking dish, sprinkling raisins between layers if using.
In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract.
Pour the mixture over the bread, ensuring it's evenly soaked.
Sprinkle nutmeg on top if using.
Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown and set.
