Instructions 

  1. In a saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and water.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, until the blueberries have broken down and the mixture has thickened.
  4. Strain the syrup through a strainer to remove the blueberry skins, if desired.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
