Main Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup evaporated milk
- 3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Add the egg, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut into squares.
Fry the dough squares in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Dust the beignets with powdered sugar and serve warm.
