Main Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ⅔ cup whole milk
- 1 large egg beaten, for egg wash
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the milk, stirring until just combined.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently.
Roll out the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out scones using a round cutter.
Place the scones on a baking sheet and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let cool slightly before serving.
