Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar for caramel
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until golden. Pour into a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
  5. Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with hot water to create a water bath.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes, or until the center is set.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
  8. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a plate, and slice.
