Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. 2. Add warm water and vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  6. 6. Divide the dough into 8 pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and poke a hole in the center to form a bagel shape.
  7. 7. Boil each bagel for 1-2 minutes on each side. Remove and place on a baking sheet.
  8. 8. Bake the bagels for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
