Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup wheat berries
  • ½ cup chickpeas cooked
  • ½ cup white beans cooked
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ¼ cup dried apricots chopped
  • ¼ cup dried figs chopped
  • ¼ cup hazelnuts toasted
  • ¼ cup walnuts chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 8 cups water

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the wheat berries and soak them overnight.
  2. 2. Drain the wheat berries and place them in a large pot with 8 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
  3. 3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes.
  4. 4. Add the cooked chickpeas and white beans. Continue to simmer for another 15 minutes.
  5. 5. Stir in the sugar, raisins, dried apricots, and dried figs. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
  6. 6. Add the hazelnuts, walnuts, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well.
  7. 7. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
  8. 8. Serve in bowls, optionally garnished with more nuts and dried fruits.
