Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup apple peeled, cored, and chopped
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the chopped apple.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the milk and vanilla extract. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently. Pat into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
