Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal and warm water. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. 2. Stir in molasses, melted butter, and salt.
  3. 3. Add flour and yeast. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. 4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. 5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. 6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. 7. Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan.
  8. 8. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. 9. Let cool before slicing.
