HAPPY DAY OF GREEN!!!!!
Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved St. Patrick’s Day. I don’t even worship the Patron Saint of Ireland Saint Patrick, but I love green and I love dressing up so naturally this holiday would be a favorite. I considered making green food for fun, but I doubt that Tiny (my almost-1-year-old) would appreciate that level of holiday devotion yet… so we’ll save that for future holidays. I did, however, invite some of our friends over to take some festive St. Patrick’s Day pictures! If you haven’t seen my previous DIY photobooth post, click here to see what we did for Valentin’es day! If you’ve already read it then you know that I cannot live without my favorite photography aid EVER….. my photography backdrop!!
Yes, you see that beauty?! It makes any spot with good lighting a great place to take pics. Yup, you see that nasty fence and weeds?? I took our St. Patrick’s Day pictures RIGHT THERE!! NOT KIDDING! I got it on Amazon here for only $12 bucks! Go check them out, there’s a whole variety of backdrops!
So here’s what you need for a DIY photobooth:
- A backdrop, fake (like mine) or real.. maybe your backyard fence is cuter than mine 😉
- A camera… obviously… do I even need to mention that one??
- A collection of items for whatever theme you are doing… clearly ours was St. Patrick’s Day. The BEST place to get props… in my oh so professional <– not really… opinion… is the Dollar Store! They always have TONS of holiday themed decorations and knick knacks that are perfect for props! All of my props in this photo session were from the Dollar Store, with the exception of the cereal and signs, which I made and have so generously saved for you to download at your convenience!
- Last, you need fun, sassy models like our little ladies
So clearly, Tiny did NOT want to look at me. I mean, clovers are so much more interesting than your mom who’s screeching and pretend sneezing to try and make you laugh… Just kind of picture a monkey whooping and hollering. IT DIDN’T WORK! What kind of child do I have??? At least she’s cute even if she won’t look and smile. Thank goodness for my friends little girls, they were a little more lively!
This sign was so fun, it says “Kiss me I’m Irish (not). Unfortunately I forgot a VERY IMPORTANT step when taking pictures with a printable in a frame… PUT THE PRINTOUT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE GLASS!!! This will make it so there are not reflections coming off the glass. So if you download any of our printables, make sure you put the paper IN FRONT of the glass. I cannot say it enough.. IN FRONT IN FRONT IN FROOOOONT! Make sense? Okay, good! 🙂 Glad it stuck!
Now for the Lucky Charms, THAT was a hit! We had more fun with that than the entire rest of the photo shoot! The girls all loved it. The littles loved digging in it with the green spoon and blondy loved throwing them in the air!
How cute is this Irish sign that I snagged from the Dollar Store?!?! It was a great find and Cutie Patootie loved trying to eat it as well!
Doesn’t she have THE CUTEST SMILE! Tugs my heart strings and she’s not even mine!!
Don’t be scared to have fun with different filters, colors, and editing possibilities!!
Here are the St. Patty’s printables that you can download for your own photoshoot:

Kiss Me I’m Not Irish
Kiss Me Pretend I’m Irish
